“It’s been great being here. It’s ticked so many more … not ticked boxes, that’s the wrong thing to say there, it’s been educational for me and enriching for me to be here with you guys. It’s really filled parts of me that I didn’t, you know, that I didn’t even know. It’s just the community feel, just being all together and that as well, that’s really nice coz like my circle of friends has been like quite small or whatever and people go off and do their own things, but like we get together, and we produce something all together on different stages with things and that’s great and I’ve loved it. It’s been really good. So even though I got myself into a spot of bother to start off with, it’s turned me around and made me, I think, more headstrong with things and kind of made me grow up a little bit as well…
So, like just from being in the workshop and that, as well like, just getting that chunk of wood and producing it into whatever it goes towards. I’ve been helping more with the planting in the season, sowing them in the fields and all of that, you know, that process of things, the nurturing I suppose is part of it, you know, and everything in life has different stages doesn’t it, like from where it begins to where it ends and that as well like, you know. So to see it through and then also be part of making the best of something and from bringing goodness to the land and that, rather than people trashing it, you know. Yeah, that’s been great. That’s the circle of life, you know.
I’ve enjoyed yoga as well and that’s great. It’s brilliant. It’s so beneficial as well for your mind and your body and your soul, the holistic-like stuff going on, which I think that before I kind of like … I don’t know, I just thought it was a bit like poncy, but I know it’s not now and so I’ve taken a different approach on that. So I’m gonna be looking at like just trying to find somebody who’s … or who I could go to classes to when not being here anymore so I could carry on doing that… That’s something I’ve done a little bit of over my years, but I’ve never engaged it and totally been lost in it with the head-space and that as well, you know, just closing my eyes and listen to what Becca’s saying and that, and then just going with it and that as well, blocking everything else out coz a lot of the time my brain’s so busy and that as well and it’s quite hard to think straight sometimes coz I’ve just got like so much going on as well like, so it’s quite hard to focus and … so that gave me that…
I love being in with Graham as well. I love being in the workshop, it’s great. I think that maybe one of the things behind that is coz my dad was a carpenter, when he used to work, when we lived in Birmingham before we moved down here, that’s what he was doing and sign-writing … all the big signs, you know, doing all that and metal work. So he was doing that, and I think that like when I told him about me doing woodwork he got really excited for me as well, so every Monday he’s messaging me and he’s like are you going to the workshop tomorrow? Have a good day and then he’s asking me how it’s gone and stuff and that, wishing me all the best as well, like enjoy the day and stuff and that as well. So I think that it’s really like making him feel … so that’s really nice as well. I mean I remember doing like little woodworking jobs like when I was at home, when I was younger and that, helping him out, but he’d just be holding bits and pieces, so maybe that’s where my curiosity for it comes from in the first place, so that’s kinda nice that that’s been passed on, so that’s really good, yeah…
Oh, I love cooking, I love cooking. When I was up for the Christmas dinner and that, that was the biggest lot of food I’ve done or helped along with, doing anything like that. We done it so smoothly didn’t we as well, it all went really nice, everyone was happy, everyone’s dinners were kinda ready at the same time … that’s well good! Yeah, I really like cooking, I do really like cooking…
Sitting down altogether. That’s really nice, to the point where I actually got myself a table at home, a dining-table and chairs, so make a thing out of it whenever I’ve got anybody around at mine and we can sit at the table to eat food together. It’s always been a case of sat on the sofa with the plate on your lap and that, or propping yourself up somewhere to eat, so I’ve taken that and incorporated it at home as well. That’s nice. It brings you together. I think it makes you appreciate and enjoy the meal more, and exchange stories as well, so it’s a proper coming together feel. Yeah. It gives you a moment just to sit and reflect on what you’ve done for that morning… But yeah, it’s a chance to reflect on what’s gone on…
I don’t remember 100% what we talked about last time, but I do feel more positive … yeah, I suppose so … more solid in myself even though … excuse my language … I’m a bit of a head-fuck at the minute, but I feel stronger on the inside than what I did last time, and I feel like I’m in a better position as well, you know. We all get hiccups and glitches don’t we, like you know, but it’ll be alright.”
